THE CHALLENGE
Miami Shoe Museum's "Miami Vibes 2.0" challenge required designers to reimagine Celia Cruz's iconic cantilever shoe using AI technology, honoring her innovative spirit while demonstrating AI-human collaboration in sustainable design innovation.

THE innovation
I developed "Azúcar Orgánica," a biodegradable shoe concept that applies nature's growth and decay cycles to luxury goods. The design integrates AI-enhanced foot analysis with biomimetic principles: fiber-reinforced wood structure mimicking plant cellular architecture, mycelium cultivation for custom-fit uppers, and fungi-derived pigments creating natural color gradients. The concept demonstrates how temporary luxury goods can achieve premium positioning through scientific authenticity rather than permanence.

THE DEMONSTRATION STRATEGY
This project proves how complex biotechnology concepts become instantly compelling through biomimetic storytelling. Rather than explaining mycelium cultivation technically, the design communicates through nature's familiar growth patterns. The complete lifecycle visualization—from AI analysis through biodegradation—creates an emotional narrative that makes sustainable technology benefits immediately understandable to non-technical audiences.
